Outfit of the Day: Winter Florals

February 20, 2013

Any of my friends who check out my closet will tell  you that I spend most of my money on shoes.  Sure I love frilly dresses but shoes are my weakness.  I tend to spend money on good quality shoes and make strategic purchases when it comes to clothing.  In the end, my closet is a great lesson in mixing high and low pieces to look your very best.  Since I rarely wear pants – blame my huge butt for my trouser phobia – I am a big believer in dresses, of all colors, shapes and lengths.  Inspired by my love of flowers (I grew up in the South where my mom grew roses and peonies) my outfit of the day was inspired by winter florals.

Just because it’s winter does not mean we have to abandon floral prints.  Look at Diane Kruger, Beyonce and Nina Dobrev, all three A-listers have been donning several floral prints all winter.  Borrowed from Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney, today’s outfit was inspired by pretty petals.  I snagged this dress on sale at Target when they still had the Kirna Zabate collaboration.  I am obsessed with this dress, which pulls double duty come spring with jeweled espadrilles or flats.

On a side note, I will be posting some details March 4th on a new collaboration I have with Diet Dr. Pepper.  I, along with a few other fashion bloggers, are working with Dr. Pepper (obsessed with since college) on a few fabulous things they have in the pipeline.  For example, there is a Diet Dr. Pepper Sweepstakes kicking off in March that will allow fans to show their signature style and have the opportunity to win one of thirty unique prizes.  Trust me when I say, the prizes will be worth it.
