Hi, I’m Makeda! Welcome to Glamazon Diaires!
Hi there, my name is Makeda and I’m the writer behind Glamazon Diaries! I started this blog in Washington, DC ten years ago in 2007. That’s right, TEN long years ago. I was one of the two fashion blogs in existence in DC. Fast forward to 2018 and the city is teeming with blogs galore. Back then, I was working at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and I needed a creative outlet. Blogger was the thing at the time so I created an account and wrote my first blog post about Christian Louboutin pumps.
You might be wondering, “what kind of name is that?!” so allow me to explain. My name is actually indigenous to Ethiopia, and it means “greatness.” It was the name of The Queen of Sheba, who ruled ancient Ethiopia in the 10th century BCE and began the royal dynasty of Ethiopia. Interestingly, I was born in Ghana, West Africa to Ghanaian parents and raised in Northern Virginia.
“Greatness” is what I strive for in everything I do whether planning stellar soirees on a limited budget or an extravagant gala for a worthwhile charity. It is incredibly fulfilling for me to produce and deliver a uniquely crafted, and flawlessly executed event that clients will remember fondly for years to come.
With nearly a decade of event planning and digital marketing experience, I know the time and detail that go into planning experiential events that WOW! I believe in events that reflect the style and personality of the client, and that the intricate details are what matter most.
