Anja Rubik Gets Hip in Anthony Vaccarello at Met Gala

May 8, 2012

So long Angelina’s right leg! Hello Anja Rubik’s. The model wore a white Anthony Vaccarello gown with cut-outs at the bust and a hole at the thigh, similar to something Louis Vuitton did two seasons ago, to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala last night.  With her bone hip protruding out of the pristine white gown, the model strutted up the red staircase as Twitter was ablaze with comments.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a black version of Vaccarello’s dress on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, while Karlie Kloss wore that same version to a function earlier this year. I honestly don’t think Anja’s dress had a slit, just a hole to put her leg through to show some hip action. Regardless of the technicalities of the dress, Refinery29’s write-up of the dress this morning had me spitting out my coffee.

Cut to the waist and threatening to expose Anja’s vanja lest an idle breeze from Andre Leon Talley’s cape sweep by, the high slit on the supermodel’s Anthony Vaccarello “dress” made Angelina Jolie’s Oscar gown look like a nun’s habit.  [Refinery29]
