A picture is worth a thousand words but Bergdorf Goodman windows are priceless. I usually take the scenic route past 5th Avenue and 58th Street just to have a glance at the windows at Bergdorfs. They are works of art that take precious time, creativity and a big imagination. Linda Fargo and David Hoey are the brainchildren behind the famous windows that one might say, belong in a museum. For the 2010 holiday season, Bergdorf Goodman, in partnership with Assouline books, has created a limited edition picture book, Windows of Bergdorf Goodman, filled with photos of its gorgeous windows spanning the last ten years. I went to the book signing party at the store to check it out for myself.
Partying at Bergdorf Goodman after hours is fabulous but not as fabulous as meeting some of the most celebrated designers, including Alber Albaz, Gilles Mendel, Francisco Costa, Tabitha Simmons and Simon Spurr, and fashion’s elite. Of course nothing is as spectacular as seeing the Holiday Windows at Bergdorf Goodman illuminated in the night. The guests of honor of course were the book’s authors, David Hoey and Linda Fargo, who are credited for putting together the Bergdorf Goodman windows.
