Charity begins at home, Washington, DC that is, so I have started a new column on the blog called “Pause for a Cause.” Every couple of days, I will post charity events of interest to Washingtonians and encourage them to attend and support these worthy charities. I want to wish everyone a happy Thursday and ask you all to take a pause for the Washington Human Society’s 7th Annual Sugar & Champagne Affair hosted by Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox restaurant and Salamander Resort: Spa will be held on January 28th, 2009, at the Ritz Carlton, 1150 22nd Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20037 from 7:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
You and your dog will be treated to bubbly, tasty deserts and treats from the area’s top pastry chefs. That’s sweet music to my ears! The Washington Human Society throws some of the best events in town to raise funds and awareness of pet adoption, humane treatment of animals and educating pet owners, including my absolute favorite “Fashion for Paws.” This year’s Sugar & Champagne Affair will honor Washington Humane Society Officers who work 24-hours a day, saving the homeless, lost, neglected and abused animals and our Humane Education program that teaches elementary school children compassion and respect for animals.
Tickets are $85 per person, with a special VIP ticket for $125. The VIP reception will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and feature three 30 minute chef demonstrations. Let’s raise a glass or two of bubbly as we take paws er pause for a cause.
