‘Tis the season for giving and for once, I can say I have finished my Christmas gift shopping ahead of schedule. I knew from the get-go who would be receiving gifts from T and me so I made that list before Thanksgiving so that I could take advantage of Black Friday sales. Once that list was done, I just started putting together gift ideas for each person. My little brothers, mom, and boyfriend have all hinted at getting healthier in the New Year, and I am supporting their goals with fitness related gifts.
I’ve been a big lululemon fan since the launch of the Elite Bra two years ago and have shopped their workout gear since then. So it was a no-brainer when it came to finding the perfect gift for my loved ones and one special gift for myself this year. I’ve curated a list of my favorite workout, travel and athleisure items to give and receive this holiday season. Remember to shop early if you’re buying online to ensure adequate time for delivery before Christmas.
Gift Ideas for Mom
Clockwise from top left: My mom wants to get into yoga and meditation in 2019 due to job stress. She’s a nurse and a darn amazing one at that. I want to start her off on the right foot with my favorite Enlite Bra, which is a versatile bra for all types of workouts. It’s perfect for women with bigger busts. Mom lives in the suburbs but she has to drive to the gym for yoga classes. Instead of bulky gloves, I love the Cross Chill Run Gloves as a stocking stuffer to keep her fingers toasty on her drive or for her 30 minute daily walks. At just $38, it’s one of those gifts that won’t break the bank.
The Fast & Free 7/8 Tight II Nulux 25 is perfect for yoga. It’s quick drying and flatters. What I love most about these pants are the ample pockets to hide card, money and cell phone for a hands-free workout. The yoga studio charges $1 for mat rental. The Namastay Mat is a no-brainer gift for mom. She can have her own mat for both in-studio at at-home yoga practice. Another good stocking stuffer is the Purist Cycling Water Bottle because hydration is key for any type of workout. And finally, I’m giving her this Tied To You Sweater for something cozy she can live in all winter long.
Gifts for Brothers & Boyfriend
My boyfriend and little brothers never shop for themselves. I’m updating all their gym gear this year thanks to lululemon. My brother Kweku is a personal trainer in Virginia. For his birthday last year, I gave him a gift card to lululemon where he splurged on new fitness gear for his personal workouts. I’m gifting him with the Lost In The Hustle Hoodie to keep him warm during his sessions with clients. My boyfriend is in need of new workout shoes. I’ve been eyeing the APL TechLoom Phantom sneakers for myself but I think the fatigue green colorway is perfect for T. Plus I am snagging one APL shoes for myself so we coordinate at the gym. Another good stocking stuffer is Slouch Me Closer Beanie, made of Donegal Wool for warm.
Our gym is around the corner from our apartment so we normally ditch the bulky coats and opt for a warm windbreaker and just sprint to the gym. The City Sweat Jogger Thermo 29 is perfect for both lounging at home or worn over workout shorts while en route to the gym. My brothers live in his Pace Breaker Shorts all year round. I’m gifting each one with a new pair in different colors. Finally, an updated gym bag that can double as an overnight bag like this Command The Day Duffel is a must for the guy who needs help being organized. He can pack all his gym gear the night before to make waking up for workouts a breeze.
Gifts for the Athleisure
Clockwise from top left: lululemon is my go-to for durable, stylish workout gear but I also love their athleisure options. I love the versatility of each piece, made with form and function in mind. I live in cozy athleisure type clothing a majority of the week because I work from home. I like pieces that look put together so that I can make a coffee run or go on my daily 30-minute walk around the neighborhood to get some fresh air and sunlight. These APL Women’s TechLoom Bliss Shoe has been on my radar for months. I tried them on and fell in love. They fit like a dream and so easy to slip on and off. They are perfect for low-impact workouts and an easy travel option when you have to take off shoes during TSA checkouts.
The Bundle Up Wrap is such a luxurious gift I wouldn’t mind receiving. It the perfect coverup for travel or my daily coffee runs. I also love that it’s reversible. The Run Fast Gloves is another good stocking stuffer that will make a good gift for commuters and college students. Three items on my wishlist include the Wunder Under High-Rise Tight Mix & Mesh for an update to my workout uniform, the Ever Essentials Bralette to lounge in around the house and the Vinyasa Scarf Cashmere to bundle up on chilly days.
