I wrapped up June with a plethora of beauty and skincare products that are now on rotation with my tried and true beauty routine. Here are my top picks from last month:
URBAN DECAY VICE LIPSTICK IN F-BOMB
Nothing compares to the power of a sexy red lipstick and the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick is no exception. The formula is creamy and clings to the lips. F-Bomb is the perfect red that looks good on different skin tones. It’s got staying power but I usually start with flake free lips, line and fill them in with the waterproof Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in 69 then apply the lipstick with a lip brush.
KATE SOMERVILLE GOAT MILK MOISTURIZING CREAM
My skincare routine changes with the weather since winter requires heavy duty creams. The summer however calls for lighter formulas that won’t melt off your face with constant exposure to the sun. This summer my go to face cream has been the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream, an ultra light cream with jojoba and avocado oils to hydrate and moisturize the skin without clogging the pores. I love that my skin absorbs this cream quickly so I can move on to the other steps of my beauty routine, mainly the makeup application process.
IT COSMETICS BROW POWER UNIVERSAL DARK BROWN
I’ve finally perfected my eyebrow routine using either powders, pencils or gels. It Cosmetics has been a favorite brand of mine this year and their Brow Power Pencil is no exception. It beats the heat and sweat of summer and stays put all day long. I love the convenience of not need a sharpener with this retractable pencil. The color if flattering on my brows and matches the hair color perfectly. It also comes in various shades.
SHEA YELEEN SHEA BUTTER CREAM IN LAVENDER HONEYSUCKLE
I take body moisturizers very seriously. As a lover of covering my entire body in lotion, I take such pleasure in making sure it contains shea butter, which my skin loves. The Shea Yeleen Butter Cream has the softest lavender scent that transports me to a lavender field each time I use it. I love it’s staying power and the fact that it doesn’t easily come off after taking a dip in the pool. Darker skin ladies will attest to the power of the ash after your moisturizer weakens in chlorine or salt water. Not this moisturizer!
BLACK|UP COSMETICS LIPSHINE IN LPS 06
I love lazy Summer days when I do nothing but lounge and read a good book or blog. There are those times when I need to spruce up my face quickly in order to make it out to dinner or an event. Black|Up Cosmetics Lipshine has come to my rescue on several occasions, adding a pop of color to my lips when I need it most. The formula has tiny pearly particles for a nice sheen to the lips. I have several colors of this lipshine but the LPS 06 color is the perfect gloss for day or night. I don’t need to add lipstick to this shade. It’s also super hydrating.
MADAM C.J. WALKER BEAUTY CULTURE DREAM COME TRUE WONDERFUL DEEP CONDITIONING MASQUE
I have tried many deep conditioners that leave my naturally kinky coils still dry and brittle. The Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque is the holy grail of deep conditioning masks. This product has kept my normally dry, moisture hungry hair perfectly quenched with power ingredients like Shea Butter, Willow, coconut oil and provitamin B5. I actually have to give honorable mentions to two other products in this line, the Dream Come True Wonderful Pre-Wash Protein Treatment, which has kept my normally brittle hair strong and healthy, and the Dream Come True Wonderful Scalp Exfoliator, which has kept my scalp flake free and healthy.
