Ferragamo Icona Party 4

As an ardent lover of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand, I never miss a chance to fete iconic items in their collections.  On Tuesday evening, I was invited by the Italian fashion house to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of its iconic shoe, the Vara.  Held at the McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea, the who’s who of fashion and entertainment turned out for the lavish shindig. And when I say who’s who, I mean Eva Longoria, Derek Blasberg, Lily Aldridge, Jessica Hart, Nicki Hilton, James Ferragamo, Sophie Auster, Azalea Banks. Should I go on?

Prior to the party, photographer Clairborne Swanson Frank captured twenty-one fashionistas – Lauren Santa Domingo, Amanda Hearst, Olivia Palermo, Minnie Mortimer, Susie Lau, Lily Aldridge, Lauren Remington Platt, Jessica Hart and more – wearing customized classic Vara and the Varina Ballerina flat for a project dubbed L’Icona, currently being unveiled on the Ferragamo site.  For the next twenty-one days, Ferragamo will reveal each girl’s image and accompanying video of her in her customized shoe.

The party itself was a must attend, with guests having the opportunity to customize their own while sipping on amazing cocktails served in Marie Antoinette glasses.  The lavish space was like a garden of Eden with beautiful flowers by Bronson van Wyck adorning the multi-level space.  Sophie Auster and her band performed a set at the height of the party.   Of course it wouldn’t be a Ferragamo party without a special keepsake given to guests.  For this occasion, each guest was given a special arrangement of flowers to take home.

No lucky enough to be at the fete? You can peruse the L’Icona microsite and create your own Vara or Varina ballet flats.
