Nail Polish Tutorial: Black and White Dots

March 14, 2012

TOOLS:

  • Base Coat (using Wet ‘n Wild Wild Shine Clear Nail Protector)
  • White Nail Polish (using NYC Long Wearing Enamel in 135 French White)
  • Black Nail Polish (using Wet ‘n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color in )
  • Top Coat (using NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel 271)
  • Nail Polish Corrector (using SinfulColors)

STEP 1

Smooth and shape nails using a nail file.  Then use a buffing brush to buff and smooth the nail bed.  Next, add cuticle oil to soften your cuticles and push them back a bit.  I leave the cuticle cutting to professionals once every two weeks.

STEP 2

Paint paint nails with base coat, then apply black polish on the left hand, completely covering the nail bed.  Make sure to apply two coats for even coverage.  Let dry for a few minutes, then apply a top coat to seal in color and add shine.

STEP 3

Apply two coats of white polish on the right hand, make sure to clean up the edges with nail polish corrector.  Next, take a nail dotting tool or a toothpick, dip it into the black nail polish and apply small dots vertically across each nail.  Let the polish dry, then follow-up with a top coat to seal in the color.

Here is the finished product! Voila! Something fun to rock on a Wednesday. With so many nail colors out there, why not have fun with your nails.
