Did you expect anything less than spectacular from Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel spring 2012 couture show? No ma’am! The Kaiser pulled out all the stops for this one kids. He and his team created a makeshift luxury jet in Paris this morning. The entire experience was surreal as editors and VIP guests tweeted their amazement at the entire setup and show. Grazia magazine wrote:
We were ushered into a space designed as the inside of an oh-so-chic jumbo jet – yes, really! – complete with a bar cart and an aisle as the catwalk, lined with grey seats. As we prepared for takeoff, the air hostesses models glided past us, trussed up in pastel blue gowns covered in sparkling details. We’ve never seen such glam trolley dollies.
The invite itself, depicting the view from the inside of a Chanel branded aircraft, hinted at what guest would expect from the show.
As for the show itself, I couldn’t say I really loved the clothes, but then again, that’s the genius of Karl Lagerfeld’s aesthetic, you come to love the collections he sends down the runway. I couldn’t help but think of Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when I saw models in faux hawks and rocker chick updos. There were fascinators as well, which looked actually chic as they peaked through messy coifs.
I loved the final look that came down the runway. So angelic no? Check out some of the pictures courtesy of NowFashion.com, Grazia and Chanel.
