[By Invite Only] KCD Digital Launches Digital Fashion Shows Platform

January 23, 2012

Fashion PR agency KCD is one of the most prestigious agencies in the world, representing the upper echelon of brands in fashion, beauty and lifestyle.  The agency, which famously turned down Kanye West from many of its client’s shows in Paris, today, announced the launch of a new platform for ‘Online-only’ fashion shows.  Understanding that editors can’t be in two places at once, KCD will provide password protected access to specially selected editors and industry professionals, who can check out fashion shows on the new Digital Fashion Shows platform on the go.

“The Digital Fashion Shows platform provides all the information and materials needed to review, cover and potentially buy the collection, just like a physical show, but each of the invited guests has a front row seat and behind the scenes access at their fingertips, “ says KCD Co-President Ed Filipowski. “It is a true service to the entire industry, meeting the needs of the press and buyers in a modern way.”

I love the sound of getting a “front row seat” to a KCD show, which I am yet to receive an invitation to. If KCD allows more access to bloggers with this new platform, we too can get first hand images, run of show information and even be able to select our personal “Favorites” or type notes about our selections. The platform will also allow users to view each look from the front, back and detail shots of shoes, jewelry and accessories.

Curious about a designer’s influences and inspiration? A video is provided where he or she discusses the ideas behind the collection. Need bio and credit information? It is a click away. Important for you to describe beauty looks? The site provides all the hair and makeup details you may require, including product particulars.

Materials including images and transcripts are downloadable and printable, and the show video will be downloadable and embeddable: a one-stop approach meant to save crucial time and make the challenges of covering the runways more manageable and thus inevitably more pleasurable. Additionally, and unlike a livestream, the show is not ephemeral, the website and show video will be available to be replayed and revisited by press and buyers at any time after its initial debut.

KCD will unveil the Digital Fashion Shows platform during New York Fashion Week with the first designer to show being Prabal Gurung’s ICB collection for Onward Kashiyama on Wednesday, February 15th at 11:30 a.m.  Curious about the website? Check it out at http://www.digitalfashionshows.com.
