October is breast cancer awareness month, which means it’s time to get your breast checked, call all your friends and make sure they schedule an appointment with their doctors for a breast exam. The disease is easy to treat when caught early so I urge you all to start each month with a self breast exam and if you are not sure how to perform it, consult your doctor. The disease affects women as early as in their 20s so don’t think you are invincible.
Many women are lucky and fortunate enough to have health insurance to help with their battle with breast cancer but for many, this resource alludes them. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is dedicated to helping those uninsured get treatment. The organization also ensures that over 90% of its funding goes to research, community programs and awareness. For the month of October, several brands have stepped up to the plate to donate proceeds from the purchase of their products to this worthy cause. So make sure to shop to stop breast cancer.
