Vineyard Vines Fall 2011 Preview

June 3, 2011

Vineyard Vines has come a long way from its origins of just ties.  In a recent interview with the Daily Front Row, brothers Shep and Ian, founders of Vineyard Vines dish on the company’s humble beginnings and the hard work and dedication it has taken them to get to where they are today.  Known among the true prep set as a quintessential preppy brand, Vineyard Vines has now moved from just creating ties and clothing to centering collections around a theme.  For Fall 2011, the men’s, women’s and children’s wear clothing, footwear and accessories are grouped into three themes: Newport and Vermont, places the brothers have visited and love.

For the Newport collection, look for argyle sweaters, paisley, stripes and plaids.  The Ellery, Oxford and Ruffled button down shirts return in colorful colors like club blue, hibiscus, asparagus and Caribbean blue to compliment the darker Fall hues.  They’ve taken a men’s tie and created an ultra feminine skirt, the Gal Skirt, that will look preppy and stunning with a long sleeve sweater, tights and Mary Jane pumps.

Vineyard Vines Fall is all about details.  Look for gorgeous buttons adorning the sleeves of women’s sweaters, and the shoulders short sleeve sweaters; Henley tees are more feminine with ruffles and ruching; the Shep Shirt is quilted at the shoulder, giving it more of a luxurious feel; and seasonal basics like the classic polo, crew necks short sleeved and long sleeved tees to pair with corduroy pants and skirts and denim jeans.

The Vermont collection is darker, more grown-up yet still has the Vineyard Vines aesthetic.  Look for sweater dresses, Bear Creek Wrap Cardigans and Mountain Top Turtleneck sweaters in rich colors like coffee, barn red, pumpkin, vineyard navy and sand bar.  The classic totes return this Fall in argyle and patchwork.  A must have item for girls returning back to college and career women looking to beautify their makeup bags is the Makeup Bag Gift Set, which comes in three sizes for $75.  Love handbags? the Quilted Classic Tote, which will retail for $135, is going to be a must have item.  It comes in both Black and a Fall ready Pumpkin Patch.
