Fresh Face Friday: Time Saving Skin Care – Pads Edition

June 3, 2011

Seems like there’s never enough time for anything nowadays. Whether it’s prepping meals ahead of time or taking my cracked nail polish off on the train, I’m saving time wherever I can. When it comes to my beauty routine, I can honestly say I can apply both eyeliner and mascara with precision on a moving train.

Taking care of my skin is very important to me and while I’m willing to dedicate all the time necessary, if I can shave a few minutes off – I’m all for it. Like those moments when your alarm clock just isn’t cutting it; or maybe it’s 4AM and you’ve managed to get your heels off but standing long enough to wash your face just isn’t happening.  It’s not even the alcohol, your body just happens to be gravitating to wards the bed.

Save time without sacrificing your skin’s health with one of my favorite beauty inventions – the “pad.” Face pads that clean and remove dirt and makeup, eye pads that de-puff – I could go on forever! Watch the clock and see how much time you save with my favorite “pads.”

Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads, $28.74/pack of 3

When I first moved to New York, my mother sent me a care package – like the ones you got when you were away at camp. It had all the essentials (even though I lived in the city and had access to all of it) and two tubs of Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads.

First off, they smell wonderful – natural, clean, and refreshing. The pad has two sides – one smooth to cleanse,  the other, coarse to exfoliate. After using these natural soy-infused pads for about two weeks, I had three friends ask if I had gotten a facial recently. I love using them in the shower because the steam helps open up my pores. My skin was noticeably smoother and the tone seemed to be evening out after a few more weeks. Results weren’t overnight but there was a noticable difference. Plus, they’re oil-free, hypoallergenic, and soap-free!

Essence of Beauty Loofah Body Buff, $2.99

If I don’t have my beloved Aveeno pads and I’m using a liquid or foam cleanser, I always, always use my Beauty Loofah. With two sides, one smooth and one coarse to wash away makeup and dead skin cells. I love the way it makes my skin feel as I apply a layer of moisturizer with SPF, of course. A galpal of mine hates the ‘beads’ in exfoliating cleansers but loves to exfoliate in the morning – so the Beauty Loofah is her best friend!

Gingko Leaf Repair Face Pads – Wei Beauty, $68

As someone who has tested many beauty products, there aren’t many products that I can say ONLY positive things about. Even when something is fantastic – there are always cons. These travel-size pads give your skin a face-lift – or at least that’s how it feels. After my first time using the Wei Beauty Gingo Leaf Repair Face Pads, my skin looked like it had been cleansed, exfoliated, buffed, and moisturized – all in less than 10 minutes. Did I also mention that my skin was clearly tighter? I’m in love!

What’s in this power product?

Gingko has been used in Chinese Traditional Medicine for 5,000 years and the amino acids in it really help to brighten your skin.  It also has flavonoids to protect against free radicals; Hyaluronic acid for much needed moisture and improved elasticity and tautness. (If your skin is prone to redness, be relieved as these pads are packed with Bamboo Lead and Motherwort.)
