Her name is Lola…she was a showgirl

October 6, 2009

Sometimes you just gotta stop and smell the flowers, which is what Marc Jacobs is hoping his ardent fans and followers will do when they take a whiff of his new women’s fragrance Lola. Lola makes a very good first impression with its super cute bottle topped with an extremely large vinyl flower, just like Marc Jacobs’ first fragrance Daisy.

This fragrance caught my eye at CUSP this past weekend and I just had to do the sniff test for myself to see if I loved it as much as Daisy. Initially, the first whiff was a bit overpowering but not for long. After a couple of minutes, Lola settled into my skin, giving off a sweet scent of fruit and flowers like ruby red grape fruit, vanilla, fuschia peony, pink peppercorn, tonka bean and creamy musk.

Marc Jacobs is touting Lola as Daisy’s “confident and slightly vampy older sister.” My friend tried Lola on as well but didn’t like it as much. Although she is able to wear Daisy, she thought Lola was not as easily wearable by the masses. That might be a good thing because I don’t really want a lot of people wearing the same fragrance all around town. I got a sample at Sephora last night to try it out for the week. So far I have to say that I am loving Lola just as much as Daisy.
