Local fashion writer McLean Robbins (Washingtonian and Deacon Does DC) was at the Crooked Monkey party with me last night. I had to get a picture of her simple but chic black ensemble. McLean wore her black short sleeved tiered Kaylee Tankus dress she snagged at Hu’s Wear earlier this year with crisscross sandals, a gold tassel necklace and multi colored bag. She finished off her look with dark gray or black nail polish and a perfectly coiffed chin length bob.

The super long Twisted Tassel Necklace by Banana Republic is the perfect accessory for the black dress.

Loved her vintage Emilio Pucci bag, Ann Taylor Crisscross sandals and dark gray polish. McLean said she was surprised to find super cute shoes at Ann Taylor since she rarely shops there. That goes to show you that you can get some fabulous finds in unexpected places.

Get McLean’s look for a little bit less with some of the ideas below.
