Crooked Monkey Warehouse Party

September 14, 2009

While the rest of Washington watched football at local bars or slept in their cozy beds, about 100 fashionistas, magazine writers, bloggers and fans of Crooked Monkey t-shirts partied hard at a warehouse nestled in an undisclosed location in Chinatown last night. The party was for Micha Weinblatt and his tshirt label Crooked Monkey, which has become a favorite of Ryan Seacrest and magazines, including Seventeen. It’s even been featured on Weeds and will be in the upcoming movie Eclipse, part of the Twilight saga. I wonder who will be wearing the shirt.

For the past two years or so Crooked Monkey has gained a following among Washingtonians so to thank those who’ve helped it gain traction, Micha Weinblatt and his team threw us all a party. Some notables included Mix 107.3’s Tommy McFly, Washington Examiner’s Kiki Ryan, who will soon be at Politico, Bethesda Magazine‘s Karen Watkins, City Shop Girl‘s Kelly Fredericks, Pamela Sorensen of Pamela’s Punch, Kate Michael of K Street Kate, Washingtonian writers McLean Robbins and Rachel Cothran (Deacon Does DC and Project Beltway, respectively), Dr. Mark Drapeau and many others.

Don’t you just love Micheal Jackson? This is one of the Crooked Monkey t-shirts.

The invitations arrived in the mail several weeks before hand in the form of t-shirts, which were our entry into the party. They took the tshirts back and created a mural from it. All attendees received a piece of the mural as a take away.

Environmentally friendly Go Green or Go Home Shirt.

I loved this girl’s vest, which she wore with her Crooked Monkey shirt, so much that I had to take a pic.

Sexy racer back.

Rachel Cothran and me. Love Project Beltway.

Kiki Ryan’s effortless California style is super chic. I love her torn jeans and Converse paired with a preppy blue stripped button down shirt and her red Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.
