Perfect in Plaid

I had to wear plaid to prep school when I lived in Ghana and loathed the print when I came to the U.S. in 1995. I was pretty lucky to skip the uniform dress code during middle and high school but for the past couple of months, I’ve been seeing plaid everywhere. Celebrities like Zach Efron, Beyonce, Rob Pattinson and Emma Watson and First Lady Michelle Obama are all mad about plaid and it shows in some of their fashion choices.

As adults, I think we think of plaid as whimsical and playful, a print that suit almost any mood depending on how you style it. Plaid, though has a laid back feel, can be spruced up in so many ways. The young Hollywood boys opt for skinny cut jeans with Converse tennis shoes and minimal bling. Zach Efron’s look is a bit more dressed up while Rob Pattinson opts for the casual chic look with a white tee, denim shirt and a plaid jacket, along with his Ray-Ban Clubmasters.

Even First Lady Michelle Obama likes to go plaid once in a while. She was recently spotted wearing a Junya Watanabe sweater on her European excursion in April.

My favorite boys in the city, none other than the DC United soccer players, have adopted the plaid shirt, jeans and Chuck Taylors as their go to outfit for casual nights on the town. These boys are so in shape that nothing looks bad on them, not even plaid. Brandon Barklage in his blue plaid shirt.

Devon McTavish in purple plaid at Eighteenth and Red. Devon is the poster child for the classically casual look. He somehow manages to look dressed up in plaid. It’s all about the attitude and how you wear the clothes.

Bryan Namoff has also been known to rock plaid on occassion. He’s seen here wearing a baby blue plaid shirt dark denim. You don’t have to wait until the fall to wear dark color plaid that is synonymous with Burberry and Ralph Lauren. All the looks get two thumbs up from me. An now it’s your turn to look perfect in plaid.

Hey Glamazon why have you been keeping these hot guys to yourself? You make those two boys look very good. You should snag Brandon and give me Devon since the two of you look so insanely good together. Boys night out with the Glamazon Diaries? I would be there if Devon came.
