I went to the Morton’s Steakhouse downtown this afternoon to go watch a live broadcast of Joe Theismann on ESPN 980 for their Lunch with a Legend’s program. Besides listening to callers call in to ask the Redskins Superbowl champ about everything sports, I ran into an old friend, Jon Mervis and his dad Ronnie Mervis of Mervis Diamond Importers.
After the event, Jon asked me for coffee because he had something “awesome” to show me. I knew the word “awesome” coming from the Prince of Diamonds meant that it was definitely something I had to see. So I took him up on his offer and went to Breadsoda in Glover Park.
Jon turned on his laptop to show me pictures of his latest creation – a cupcake full of diamonds. I repeat – a cupcake full of diamonds. Now ladies, this guy knows how to get to my heart. Diamonds and sweets equals the perfect combination, for me at least.
Feast your eyes on the world’s most expensive cupcake. Jon told me that the cupcakes are part of the promotion to launch wedding season. Now who wouldn’t want her husband-to-be to propose with cupcakes full of diamonds. The delectible confection of sugar, flour and diamonds is just what a girl needs and wants. It’s a 2 carat asscher cut diamond in the center and eight round brilliant diamonds encircling the cupcake. Each small diamond is about half a carat. How much would this cupcake cost you if you were to buy it? About $30,003 ($3 for the cupcake darling).
Now the real question is this: who can eat just one cupcake? I can scruff down at least two cupcakes, especially one as decadent as the one he showed me. So as a girl with expensive taste, I require two of these bad girls. Total cost: $60,006 plus tax.
