I began digging through my closet to clear things I haven’t worn in at least a year to make room for spring and summer ensembles. I threw away a few dresses and shoes but kept most of my frocks because I do wear them all. Here are a few things I am hoping to add to my closet this spring.
I tried on this Catherine Malandrino Tuxedo Swing Dress at Urban Chic in Georgetown during Inauguration week because I needed a dress to wear for one of the parties. Even though I ended up not getting the dress, I made a mental note to go back to the store to grab it. This dress is on my radar and I know exactly which event I want to wear it to – 1869 Society’s Artini on March 28. The dress is very flattering on with the A-line and pleated skirt. It minimizes curves and plays up on the upper body. You can unbutton the front buttons to go as low as you want or show off a necklace. It’s $425 but I am waiting to get it during Urban Chic’s 5 year anniversary so that I can get a nice discount on it. It’s also available at Neiman Marcus.
I need rain boots for the Spring showers and want to stay away from the cutesy and colorful prints. Don’t get me wrong, I think J. Crew and other companies that make colorful critter wellies are wonderful but it’s time for me to upgrade and get a more mature look. On my list is the Choo Wellington by Jimmy Choo. Tamera Mellon, founder and creative director of Jimmy Choo is collaborating with iconic British brand Hunter, to create limited edition Wellington boots under the Choo brand.
The boot, already the buzz around the fashionable set, is made of a natural rubber but embossed with Jimmy Choo’s signature crocodile print with a gold buckle and rivet detailing, the logos of both companies on the front and leopard print lining. These Wellington’s are going to cost you a pretty penny at $300 and will be sold exclusively online at www.jimmychoo.com starting in June. Die hard Jimmy Choo fans can put their names on the wait list starting May 1 on the website.
Enamel bangles have become popular over the past few seasons and their popularity is not waning anytime soon. Enamel bracelets are the perfect accessories to dress up any outfit. They come in different prints, colors and sizes. On my lust list is the Vineyard Vines Patchwork Puzzle Whale Bangle, $85. It’s the perfect balance of preppy and proper without going overboard. You get the signature whale imprinted on the multi-colored bangle. Wear it all summer long and even into the fall when you need a reminder of summers on the water.
