Giambatista Valli Capes

March 10, 2009

I’ve been looking for a cape ever since I saw an old photo of Jackie O covered in a black cape on her way to what looked like a White House dinner. No one really wears capes anymore and I feel it’s my duty to bring them back in style. I have searched high and low, in vintage shops and at high end boutiques but have failed to secure one. I found two vintage capes, one by Burberrys’ and another by Acquascutum that would be perfect for the fall. The capes are a bit shorter than what I have been looking for but I couldn’t help but buy both because they were such great deals.

I just reviewed Giambatista Valli’s fall 09 collection and what sparked my interest in his collection were two capes that are exactly what I am looking for. The draping of both capes are simply elegant and sophisticated. Both are appropriate for an evening gown and satin gloves for the fall charity gala season. My favorite is the blue cape with a cloak on the left. The blue coat can be reversed and worn with the black showing.
