I went to the opening of Bourbon Steak, the new restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown – totally worth the splurge a fab dinner. The suggested attire was “Georgetown Chic.” Not sure what that really meant but it gave me the opportunity to put a twist on the preppy factor by pairing a ruffled black dress with a black houndstooth jacket (which I put in coat check) and matching shoes.
Before I left the house, I tried to figure out which clutch I would carry to complete my look. Naturally a black clutch was my first option but then I realized that I had every color clutch except black. The only black clutch I had would not fit my ginormous blackberry, powder brush, lipstick and mascara so I opted for a statement making red crocodile clutch I bought a couple of years back.
After the party, I vowed to buy a black clutch that would accommodate the basic items I needed for a night out. So here it is: the Leather Wrap and Wrap Clutch by Juliette Jake, $495 available at Intermix (Shops at Georgetown Park – 3222 M Street, NW, Washington, DC). Dressy enough for black tie and perfectly suitable for “Georgetown Chic.”
