The Corcoran’s 1869 Society presents the Artini…

March 28, 2008

The art of making a martini isn’t hard to master! ha! that’s a lie. Martini’s are perhaps the most sophisticated drink one can put to their lips and the art of making a recipe who’s memory lingers hours after the last sip is hard to master. I have had many-a-martini and none have tasted as good as the Vesper made for me at the Martini Lounge in Richmond, Virginia years ago. The martini is a sexy drink and the bearer of a glass is nothing short of that. Like your martini shaken and not stirred? Onion or olive? Gin or vodka? I like mine with three parts Hendrix Gin, one part Grey Goose and a splash of bitters, shaken and served in a chic glass. Now that’s a Vesper for you.

Whether you are a martini lover or a novice to the art of sipping on a glass of a finely made martini, you are in luck. Join the Corcoran’s 1869 Society for its latest and greatest event, ARTINI. Fifteen of the finest restaurants in the District of Columbia will compete to create the most artistic martini and be judged by non other than YOU, the patron. Visit the participating restaurants, sample ‘artinis,’ and vote online for your absolute favorite. That’s fifteen reasons to go out with friends after work to have a good time and meet other young professionals in the city; fifteen reasons to go out and have a good time and perhaps learn something new about martinis.

The 1869 Society kicks off ARTINI with the ARTINI Cocktail Hour at the Park at Fourteenth on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. No this is not an April Fools joke. Try the Dolly Madison, The Park’s artistic creation, at the ARTINI launch party. What’s better than good music and good drinks? Good looking people of course. So don your Tuesday best and mingle with some single professionals or just network. Try a featured martini at one of the 15 restaurants every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6:30p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the month of April.
