Get office ready with a simple sheath

September 14, 2009

The sheath dress has been around for decades but never has it taken center stage than now when our first lady Michelle Obama is such a fan. Since her husband’s nomination as president and election to the office of the President, Mrs. Obama has always been office ready in her sheath dresses. These dresses are so effortless and chic, which means it can take you from the board room to the dining room with a few simple accessories. Michelle’s big thing was the statement necklace and kitten heels. Being a tall woman, she has made the kitten heel her go to as to not overshadow the President.

You can take a few pointers from the First Lady by making sure that your dress is always knee length or below the knee. This makes it appropriate for the office and for an evening out. During work hours, it is necessary to cover up, especially if you work in a conservative office with a blazer, cardigan or a knee length jacket. You can skip the cardigan come happy hour and add higher heels or bolder accessories to make it evening ready.
