I get jealous every time I see actress Chloë Sevigny on the red carpet. She was born to wear clothes not the other way around. Her arrival onto the fashion scene is perhaps one of the best things to ever happen to designers who line up to dress her. She has made some pretty controversial and critically acclaimed fashion choices. I mean a lot can be said for a gal who can pull off white retro Ray-ban Wayfarers, a red short playsuit and ballet flats or a sparkling one shoulder dress with a flower brooch and tiger print leggings. The fashion gods broke the mold when they made her. Over the years, I’ve coveted many of Chloë’s fashion ensembles and how she’s managed to make the flirtation with masculinity a part of her wardrobe.
It was only a matter of time before she launched her own collection so when Opening Ceremony came knocking, the actress did not hesitate to get her creative juices flowing for her very first clothing collection. Instead of downright ballsy pieces, Chloë opted for basics that every woman and man should have in their closet. Her unisex collection is somewhat plain but are worth the splurge for basics that will never go out of style. I am loving the Straight Leg Trouser, $370, which is going to be part of my uniform for the fall and probably next spring. The collection is the Big Love actress’s first foray into men’s fashion and she says its a lot easier than designing a collection for women.
She told WWD that her collection is a “slight homage” to Miguel Adrover with a touch of “gay lumberjack.” “There’s much less pressure doing men’s, and because this collection is unisex and oversized, I felt like I could have more fun,” she told WWD.
