Luke’s Wings Fashion Takes Flight

March 2, 2009

To celebrate its one year anniversary, Luke’s Wings, a non profit organization dedicated to bringing a little piece of home to wounded military service members recuperating in military hospitals but purchasing plane tickets for their family members, hosted a fashion show to raise money to bring another family to see their loved one. Some of Washington’s finest hit the runway to showcase the latest spring trends for men and women. Local celebs like Paul Wharton, Angie Goff, Kate Marie Grinold and Katherine Kennedy joined military service members on the runway as Fashion toook Flight at L2 Lounge.

What was so impressive about this fashion show was its dedication to promoting Washington, DC designers and boutiques. Budding designers like Aidah Fontenot, Mi Chiamo Eka and Christina Sochaki joined seasoned vets like Allison Priebe Brookes of Queen Bee Designs, Evelyn Bookes jewelry and B. Jolee outfitted models with their latest collection. Even boutiques got in on the fun by loaning out clothes from the Spring, summer and resort wear collections. Urban Chic and We One You Two were two of the boutiques who got on board to help Luke’s Wings’ Fashion Takes Flight reach their goal.

Below are a few of the pictures I took from the night’s festivities. I hope you enjoy them and that you will support the cause by donating event $10.
