While many prominent designers have dropped out of New York Fashion Week due to the economic slump, Justin Timberlake’s line, William Rast, just announced that it will be presenting a spring collection at Bryant Park.
Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, Carmen Marc Valvo and even Donna Karen have all bowed out of showing a runway collection and instead have opted for just presentation or just more “intimate” shows. Which is fitting because why exhaust resources when you can keep costs down and still give the media, buyers and fashion critics a preview. “The intimacy of a smaller show feels much more appropriate for these times,” says Wang.
