Looks like summer packed it’s bags and left town this weekend. The temps dipped unseasonably low starting on Friday, which promoted me to pull out some of my newly acquired coats from their crypts.
The fall chill lingered through yesterday with T and I bundling up for a champagne hangout with our dear friend Michael, who stopped by to congratulate us on our upcoming nuptials with a bottle of champagne and cheese in tow, in the backyard. Despite temperatures hitting the upper 70s this week, I’m still planning on doing a complete summer closet purge this week. So long flowy frocks, hello gorgeous coats!
Speaking of coats, I made out like a bandit during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last month. I snagged three long, tailored fall coats and a blazer from three new brands I have not yet tried.
You know I love wearing dark blue in the colder months because it’s a much softer than black, which can sometimes read as dreary. I’ve made a pact with myself to dress a bit more cheerful this fall/winter by adding bold and bright pops of color here and there. This robin’s egg blue (or is it more periwinkle?) coat from Avec Les Filles is just what the doctor ordered to keep me chic and warm.
I love the structure of the coat and the silhouette but can we talk about the color? What a statement! It also comes in a beautiful camel for my neutral loving gals as well as black. The coat fits like a dream. It’s well cut and fits a bit more snug and structured than less expensive coats from H&M and ASOS. I bought the XXL, which fits like a size 16 because I need room in the sleeves for bulkier sweaters.
I restyled items I’ve worn previously to compliment this coat. Isn’t this skirt divine? I wore it this summer and plan on wearing it all year round as part of my seasonless wardrobe. I added my navy plaid patterned tights (last seen here) for a touch of flare and this cashmere sweater from Lord & Taylor.
The shoes are the Natalie flats by Sarah Flint. They are the perfect shade of navy. I’ve wanted to add something navy to my shoe collection for some time now and Natalie is the perfect addition. Sarah Flint is actually having a special anniversary sale on this style. Get $50 off with the code: SARAHFLINT-NATALIE50. The sale ends today, September 21.
The rest of my accessories are all repeats. The headband is from Amazon Fashion. You get six (6) colorful headbands for $13.99, which is a steal. The sunnies are also an Amazon find. My jewelry is vintage and the bag is by Charles Keith.
