Fashion’s funky fairy godmother, Betsey Johnson, paid homage to pirates today at her Spring 2009 runway show. The funky collection was a journey into deep waters with perhaps some of the most quirky and girly looking pirates to hit the runway. The 51 piece collection showcased Betsey’s talent for the avant garde. Models in Western inspired pirate thing-a-jigs walked the runway, some in bowed sheer petticoats, floral print dresses and puffy mini’s that are synonymous with Betsey herself. Three of my favorites in the collection were a pristine wedding dress with an unconventional concave shaped neckline so appropo for the spring, skull and cross bones leggings and a tie-dye chartreuse/cerulium print gown.
