The Aggy is the Haircut of the Decade

June 18, 2008

Remember the ‘Rachel’ haircut from the nineties? When women all over the world ambushed salons with a photo of Jennifer Aniston in hand, begging to get the “Rachel” haircut. The rein of the Rachel died with the ninties. Nowdays, celebs are dying to get ‘The Aggy,” named after model and muse Agyness Deyn. According to British Vogue, Deyn’s bleached classic rebel cut is the defining hairstyle of the decade.

Celebs like Mena Suvari, Selma Blair, Pixie Geldof and Rihanna have gone for this dramatic look. Sam McKnight, stylist to the stars, created Deyn’ cropped do two years ago for a Mario Testino shoot.

“Mario and I saw Agyness with shoulder-length, slightly scraggy hair and thought she needed a sharper look,” he tells the Daily Mail. “I cut it that day and bleached it the next and Agyness just ran with it. She hasn’t looked back.”

The look works for her and makes her stand out of the pack of models. Deyn is the face of Jean Paul Gaultier, who’s edgy designs compliment the model perfectly. [Vogue UK]
