J. Crew Designs Capsule Collection for the High Line

Screen Shot 2013-07-22 at 4.36.14 PMJ.Crew just announced a capsule collection to benefit New York City’s High Line.  The limited edition High Line collection, A limited-edition capsule collection, called High Line, includes clothing for men, women and children printed with photos of the High Line, historic depictions of freight trains, botanical illustrations by George Olson and illustrations of the High Line by children’s author Peter Brown.

The collection marks the launch of J. Crew’s “Garments for Good” program for charitable product initiatives. The collection includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, makeup bags, bracelets and baby onesies, priced from $15 to $78.

The High Line is a former elevated freight railway that has been transformed into a mile-long stretch of landscaped park, with fountains, seating, and a wading pond. It provides a unique perspective on the area’s urban renewal, and crosstown views and of the river. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues.

Robert Hammond, co-founder of Friends of the High Line, called the collection “fresh and timeless and perfect for New Yorkers on the go.…As the nonprofit conservancy that operates the High Line, we are always looking to create new ways to sustain the park.” It will be available starting Wednesday at the High Line Shop on West 16th Street, TheHighLine.org, JCrew.com, and in four J. Crew stores in New York City.
