Spencer Hart ended the first day of the London Collections: Men with the groove of James Brown. Any show that has the funky energetic sounds of the Godfather of Soul is bound to give you smooth effortless cool which is what Spencer Hart evoked. The collection presented by all black male models stirred up London tailoring with a youthful present that was “classic with an edge.”
The looks provided kaftans paired with blazers, which for Spencer Hart, was something he’d seen quite often. “I wanted to do something really authentic, just something that I love. I’ve always had this wish to put together kaftans with dinner jackets, I’ve always loved that look. I live just off the Golborne Road, on the left if you are heading down from Trellick Tower, I’ve lived in that area all my life. And you often see these very elegant guys who might wear an old elegant jacket from the market with a something longer underneath.”
The collection offered a look that allowed self expression but also very suitable for a business atmosphere. It created a personality that was classic yet very in the present. Look after look presented another option where Spencer Hart allowed blazers and kaftans to speak for themselves while ankle high pants fortified the spring/summer season. It was a clean collection that was wearable for any gentlemen who has a rebellious spirit but loves old Hollywood.
