Jenna Lyons had us at hello with her interview on Oprah, and since then has been in the spotlight for many reasons, most recently her coming out as a lesbian after her divorce. No biggie! We love her even more for making us swoon each time she steps out in her ultra cool girl style. In a recent J.Crew On Film video, the J.Crew creative director and President admitted to owning over 289 pairs of shoes. Even more shocking, some of them she’s never worn. Must be nice! Unlike Carrie Bradshaw, who used her stove as storage for her shoes, Jenna has plenty of closet space for her enviable and well curated sartorial mementos.
She also talks about why a high heel isn’t just a shoe. She compares shoes to fairies and calls some of the J.Crew shoes ‘shiny ponies’ and ‘ugly dollies.’
“There’s a sense of sparkle in a shoe, and I don’t mean the sparkle like sequins,” she says in the video. “I mean, you know, add a little extra…Shoes are like fairies, like that sort of little magical piece that finishes everything. I can throw on a silver, five-inch-heel pump, and all of a sudden, I feel a little bit prettier.”
