A Bevy of Models Highlight British Fashion at Olympics Closing Ceremony

August 13, 2012

The world’s most elite athletes took center stage at the London Olympics for the past sixteen days but last night belonged to musicians, artists, including some of Britain’s top models.  Sure each might have been on display for a mere three minutes, but those fleeting minutes spotlighted British fashion.

Models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Lily Donaldson, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, and David Gandy arrived at the stadium behind large billboards to David Bowie’s ‘Fashion’ wearing gold designs by Alexander McQueen, Erdem, Christopher Kane, Vivienne Westwood and Christopher Kane.

After the models unveiling, each model took a turn on the Union Jack catwalk, posing a few minutes and then sauntering off.  Naomi Campbell looked regal as can be in a gold Alexander McQueen gown with a long, sheer train.  Kate Moss also wore a gold McQueen dress but we have to give props to Lily Cole for wearing one of Kate Middleton’s other favorite designer’s Erdem.

Naomi Campbell in this proud moment – doesn’t look like someone who would throw a phone at someone – works the runway like it’s her job. Oh wait it is! On another note, we’ve been hoping our favorite Duchess, you know, the one of Cambridge, would wear this dress at one of her high profile events.  Perhaps Sarah Burton will make a modified version of it with a long skirt for Kate.  We have only one word for Naomi, WORK!!!
