In the race to be the best singing talent show on television, American Idol has taped American sportswear designer Tommy Hilfiger to serves as the ‘Image Advisor’ for the show. I bet Jennifer Hudson wishes she had Tommy on the show during her season, seeing those atrocious outfits she donned on the show. Eesh! Hilfiger hasn’t been announced on the show yet, he appears on camera for the first time next week. His job will be to meet each contestant in his design studio and work with him or her to create a look for each appearance.
“I thought it would be exciting and challenging and different, a place where I could use all of my experience in fashion and music,” said Hilfiger. “If you look at what makes a star, it’s not only musical talent, it’s the complete package. And that includes image. If you look at great superstars from Michael Jackson to Madonna and Lady Gaga and Katy Perry today, they each have a unique style and that adds to their persona. It’s the icing on the cake,” he added.
So will all contestants be wearing Tommy Hilfiger on stage each week? The answer is no. The designer will dress each singer based on their personal style, personality and genre of music, which means some of the clothes might come from other designers.
