The ALDO Rise collection, featuring shoes designed by Preen, JW Anderson, Libertine and Mark Fast are available worldwide starting today. The initiative is ALDO’s way of bringing to the masses the ideas of daring talents in fashion. For the spring 2012 launch, each designer has created a collection based on their latest collections. Each shoe will retail for $150 and can be purchased at AldoShoes.com starting today.
Faster by Mark Fast: The Mark Fast x ALDO RISE collection showcases the intricately handcrafted elements of Fast’s ready-to-wear line. “I took inspiration from a bit of tribal and metallic glam,” says Fast. The heeled style features his iconic cut-out details and comes in 4 bold colors.
Preen: London-based duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi won rave reviews for their SS12 runway collection with footwear playing an essential role. ”We are very excited about this collaboration,” said the pair. “The shoes have a very Preen look. Proportion, color and texture are key.” The Preen x ALDO RISE collection will feature 4 styles in a range of colorways. From heels with pops of neon to mules with a pixilated print with heel shapes that carry the same design sophistication akin to architecture.
JW Anderson: JW Anderson was inspired by structured heels and feather details for his SS12 collection with ALDO RISE. “Like Rauschenberg, it’s a patchwork of textures,” Anderson said to describe the feminine styles that mix stripes with feathers and demure ankle straps with lace-up elements.
Libertine: With experience collaborating with the likes of art star, Damien Hirst, Libertine designer Johnson Hartig brought just the right mix of creativity and SoCal ease to the design table. “I’ve been looking at a lot of Cy Twombley, swimming in the ocean, and making driftwood sculptures and voila; graphic stripey shoes!” True to his “stripey” inspiration, the two footwear and two bag styles in the Libertine x ALDO RISE collection displays totally different takes on the use of horizontal and vertical stripes.
