Legendary footwear designer Christian Louboutin made an appearance at Bergdorf Goodman yesterday afternoon to unveil his 20th Anniversary collection. Monsieur Louboutin was met by throngs of shoppers obsessed with his vertiginous creations. The shoe salon was full of red soled ladies snapping up pairs of the French designer’s sexy creations for the chance to meet him and get an autograph on the sole of their shoes. Perched in front of a towering display of the anniversary collection with colorful permanent markers, he signed each woman’s shoe, pausing for a few seconds to chat with each.
Bergdorf Goodman is the first store to stock the 20th Anniversary Christian Louboutin collection. It’s not even in the actual Louboutin stores. I couldn’t get enough of a pink Mary Jane pump with an adorable poppy flower at the ankle or the black and white strapped d’orsay heel with ankle straps. There were shoes for everyone, including the Love shoe (wrote about them back in 2009) inspired by Princess Diana, this time in flats.
The limited edition collection comes in a specially designed Christian Louboutin shoe box that I’m sure will be a collectors item as well. I met a few lovely girls who were so smitten when they got their shoes autographed. If you can’t make it to Bergdorfs over the next few days, I suggest you head online to snag yourself a pair before they are gone.
