I went to the Lookbooks loft last night for a preview of Australian design duo Gabrielle Thompson and Shannon Gunn’s footwear lable Tom Gunn. Handmade with decadent leathers and exotic skins sourced in Italy, these shoes are nothing like what is offered by mainstream footwear designers. A peep-toe suede cutout heel is accented with a wooden heel, while flats get vamped up with shiny snakeskin.
Tom Gunn has an established following in Australia andis regularly featured in Vogue, Grazia, InStyle, Shop Til You Drop and Yen. The design duo is hoping to gain notoriety and recognition in the states. They showed at Capsule and hoping to get into US boutiques soon. I for one hope they get nabbed by Intermix so I can sport one of their edgy shoes. Aussies can shop the collection at various boutiques as well as their flagship.
