It’s finally sweater weather (cue Bronx Beat segment on SNL). Time to whip out all those soft and fuzzy sweater dresses. I live in them from late September until mid-April. Honestly, sweater dresses are autumn’s answer to summer’s flirty frocks and very functional too. They keep me cozy and warm when the temps drop and are the easiest way for me to look put together when I’m working from home or cuddled on the couch with T on Friday nights.
Whether petite, tall, plus or pregnant, there are so many flattering styles of sweater dresses to choose from and in all price points I might add. I got this milky white House of Harlow sweater dress back in April during quarantine and lived in it until June. It’s still a staple now in the fall. Take a cue from my styling notes here for transitional weather dressing.

BOOHOO
I have several ribbed midi turtleneck sweater dresses from Amazon that I love. I style them with a statement necklace, preferably something like this one from Brinker & Eliza or this snake chain from Kenneth Jay Lane. For work, I would pair my sweater dresses with flats or mules like this one from Amazon The Drop or the Perfect Pump from Sarah Flint. Add a blazer like this L’Agence stunner for a corporate ready look.
When the temps dip even further come Thanksgiving and Christmas, I would swap out the shoes and add some opaque tights and tall boots. There are so many different style of sweater dresses to choose from. How gorgeous is this embellished one from Oscar de la Renta? Can you say holiday party? Keep it simple with this fit and flare number from Eliza J. I definitely packed a few of my sweater dresses for our move to Dallas this coming Friday.
