Happy New York Fashion Week! Tomorrow is the official start of NYFW and finding the right outfit to wear in this 90-degree heat is becoming a problem. I’ve been attending Fashion Week for the past 10 years and the landscape has changed drastically. Instead of having all the shows in a central location like Bryant Park or Lincoln Center, designers have now opted to show their collections all over the city. This means I need to meticulously map out my day and plan my shows and appointments around distance and difficulty of navigation to and from each venue.
Today is the unofficial Fashion’s Night Out and there are too many events and parties and so little time to attend them all. Traditionally I’ve pulled outfits from different designers to wear for the week, but this year I didn’t really want to be bothered with brand obligations, so I decided to wear things I already have in my closet and update them for fall. Of course, I have a few new things in my arsenal but it’s way too hot to wear any of them right now. So with that said, I’m wearing a few things I’ve worn this summer, but adding a few fall pieces to make them weather and season appropriate.
I recently received a few items from Fashion Nova, a fast fashion brand that provides contemporary and urban wear for women of all sizes and shapes. The brand has been around for quite some time and I have a lot of friends that swear by their jeans, which perfectly fit curvy girls with ample booties. I perused their website and really fell in love with their selection of jeans, casual wear, athleisure wear, and dresses for not only size 0 but up to 3XL. I chose a few items from their current collection and this little black dress, called the Fashion Nova Snap and Go Midi Dress, is a sure winner.
For starters, the dress goes up to a size 3XL, and come in a buttery knit fabric that is perfect for fall weather. It pairs perfectly well with heels or booties. I plan on wearing these with opaque tights when the weather gets a bit colder. It’s the perfect LBD for date night. T swooned when he saw me in this figure-hugging number. I wonder why! A girl can never have enough little black dresses because they slim and flatter the figure nicely. I do own several little black dresses in different silhouettes, but this one makes me feel ultra-sexy by hugging all the right curves. I also love the snap buttons which have two on the top and two on the bottom, and a few faux snap buttons embellished in front. The dress available on the website for $34.99, which is a huge deal. Now that I know my sizing in the Fashion Nova collection, I’m going to order a few more items and will surely review them on here for you.
