Have you seen the weather outside? After a hot kick off to Fashion Week on Thursday with temperatures in the 90s, the weather decided to cooperate with low temps in the 60s all weekend. For the past few days, I’ve been wearing fall appropriate gear including cozy sweaters, Blazers and even a cocoon coat on Saturday. Though we kicked off the week with steady rainfall, I still love the fall like temperatures. The temperature is supposed to be back in the 80s starting tomorrow. But I’m still unbothered. I am plotting the return of my fall wardrobe with heavier fabrics in lavish textures.
I’m so excited for tweed and plaid options this coming autumn season. I know most girls will tell you their favorite season is Autumn but it truly is mine. No, it’s not because of pumpkin spice lattes, which I LOATHE! It’s because the weather evokes romance with changing leaves from bright greens to gold and crisp oranges, apple picking, football season and bundling up with a loved one on the sofa with a hot toddy or Irish coffee is my idea of a good time. I also love the clothing choices when the weather cools down but before it gets frigidly cold come winter. It’s the time of year for over the knee boots, chocolatey brown coats and rich burgundy lipsticks and silk prints, and buttery soft corduroy skirts and pants.
One of my favorite fabrics to wear is tweed. I’ve always dreamed of owning a Chanel tweed set but I’m not in the position to splurge on such niceties so as always, I turn to some of my favorite brands for luxe looks for less (say that three times). It’s no secret I have a love affair with Eloquii and its contemporary collections for plus size women. I saw this tweed skirt (also love this black version and matching jacket) on the site a few months ago and snagged it right away because I loved the ruffled hem of the skirt. I wore it in Montreal back in April then hung it up in the closet when the weather got too hot for tweed. A few weeks later, the brand dropped the matching blazer, which I had to get to create a set. I’ve been waiting for the right moment to wear the tweed suit together and finally found it when I received this ruffled top from Fashion Nova that was begging for a boss tweed moment.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll notice that I repeat a lot of my outfits but wear them in different ways. I don’t believe in wasting money just to get the latest thing. So I styled my Eloquii red tweed suit with the ruffled boss blouse from Fashion Nova and these boots from Fall 2013, which I loved since buying them a few years back. To complete the look, wearing my favorite opaque tights from DKNY, I buy four pairs each season and my Louis Vuitton LockMe backpack for a back-to-school nod. Tweed is going to be a must own item this season and I’ve curated a few of my favorites just in case you’re in the market for a special piece to wear come fall.
