My boyfriend and I have been living in our Park Slope, Brooklyn apartment for a year and as much as I try to finish decorating our space, I feel like I’m never done. I don’t know about you but I always feel like I need a decor refresh right after the New Year. When we moved in together we had to meld our furniture together as as we continue to evolve as a couple, we’ve been able to define our decor style.
I always get new pillow covers and candles to breath new life into our living room but this year, we’ve decided to update our coffee table, lamps and add a new rug. We’ve had the same Ikea Vittjso coffee table for a while and we’re ready to make a a splurge purchase. I had been eyeing the West Elm Box Frame Marble coffee table for a while but so many bloggers have it in their homes that I opted for a two tier glass table to keep the aesthetic we already have in our space. We’re pretty much doing an overhaul of some of our basic furniture and upgrading to more cohesive pieces.
I have been perusing Joss & Main, Crate & Barrel and West Elm for decor ideas. We’ve decided to get the Stripling Coffee table from Joss & Main as our centerpiece. I love the two tiers, which will allow us to store our coffee table box and decorative boxes. This table is functional because we can move items from the top to the bottom level when we entertain friends. Speaking of entertaining, I want a bar cart/serving cart we can use in both the living room and the dining room for entertaining. The Cassidy Mirrored Serving Cart will be a perfect addition for nights entertaining friends or when we have movie night and need to have our popcorn and snacks in one place. This bar cart is also a little bit over $200.
I also want to switch out my bulky Restoration Hardware table lamps for something a bit lighter and these Esme lamps fit the bill. We also need more storage in our small living room and these Striped La Jolla Baskets from Serena & Lily are perfect to store blankets, pillows and extra bedding all in one place.
