We get so wrapped up with giving and receiving gifts during the holidays and often forget to give back. This holiday season, I am encouraging all of you gals and guys to give back to something you care about. One of my favorite charity events in December is the Magic & Miracles Gala benefiting Ready, Willing & Working, an organization I used to be a part of when I lived in Washington, DC.
Ready, Willing & Working was founded by Capitol Hill Business Improvement District’s Patty Brosmer and modeled after the successful New York DOE Fund program, Ready, Willing & Able. The program breaks the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism by providing paid transitional work, occupational training, housing, and comprehensive support services to homeless individuals.
Patty and I worked tirelessly on the first Magic & Miracles Gala six years ago and with its success came four more events to raise money for the program’s participants. It was such an amazing event, not only fun but enriching as well. To see hard working men who refuse to get a hand out but a hand up and back into contributing fully to society is a beautiful thing.
The event is on Thursday, December 5th at the The Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street, NE, Washington, DC) from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Purchase tickets at www.rwwdc.org.
I’ll be there so come say hello!
