One Night At The Trump SoHo Hotel

November 19, 2013

A few weeks ago, I was invited by General Motors to attend the unveiling of the 2014 Cadillac Escalade in New York City. During my trip, I stayed at the Trump SoHo, a luxurious 391 room hotel located on at the corner of Spring and Varick Streets. I stayed in the premiere guest room on the 39th floor, which had floor-to-ceiling glass windows with incredible views of the Manhattan skyline.

The beautifully modern furnishings provided by Fendi Casa.  In fact, the Trump SoHo is the only hotel in Manhattan fully furnished by Fendi.  The cozy and intimate ambiance felt like a home away from home, with careful consideration taken to ensure a personalized stay.  The devil is in the details, as I always say.  Which is why it was nice to have my name on the telephones in the rooms.

The bedroom has wraparound curtains that can be drawn with the touch of a remote.  And with a remote and wall unit to control the amount of light I wanted in the room, I was able to get ample rest on the ultra comfy over sized Serta mattress.

For those who want to catch up on the news and television shows, there is a 42-inch television with premium channels, as well as local channel programmed.  Have to take a shower but don’t want to miss your show? No problem.  The bathroom has a small television on the double sink vanity so you can keep watching Scandal or the news while getting ready.  I took a nice soak in the marble tub, with a small window overlooking Manhattan.  I rarely take bath so this was a treat.  With a nice glass of red wine in hand and indulgent Trump SoHo bath gel, I relaxed in the tub for about 30 minutes before hoping into the standalone shower with rain shower head.

They don’t spare any expense to make you feel at home.  The European style wet bar with a fully stocked mini bar was a nice welcome.  There is a microwave for those late night hot pocket and pizza cravings, as well as wine glasses, coffee cups and plates for a refined breakfast or entertaining in your room.  An added bonus was the Nespresso coffee machine for a jolt of espresso before heading out.

The Trump SoHo also has four restaurants, Koi Soho for Japanese cuisine; The Library, an intimate study guests can relax with a glass of wine or coffee with friends;  Bar D’eau upstairs with an outoor pool as well as indoor lounging area; and CafeMezz on the second floor on the second floor that serves American breakfast buffet and weekend brunch.  I grabbed a late night drink at Koi before retreating to my room for the night.

A really good perk of staying at the Trump SoHo is its proximity to all the shopping SoHo has to offer.  It’s about a 5 minute walk to the heart of SoHo, where Chanel, Mulberry, H&M, Balenciaga, Burberry, Longchamp and hundreds of stores and restaurants are open for your enjoyment.
