There has been so much buzz around the Marc Jacobs Beauty collection ever since its launch announcement at fashion week earlier this February. Since then, the makeup line, which launched at Sephora this summer, has received many accolades. Naturally, I was compelled to swing by my favorite beauty haunt to try out a few items before making a purchasing decision.
With a clean, fresh face to start, I tested out the following products:
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation (mixed cocoa medium & cocoa deep for perfect match
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadows
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Remedy Concealer Pen (in Past Curfew)
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Bold Blush in Rebellious
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfection Powder Featherweight Foundation
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Lovemarc Lipstick in Roll The Dice
Read on for my reviews.
I had to blend two of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation together to get the perfect match. The formula glides on effortlessly with my fingers and covered all my imperfections. If you’re looking for medium to full coverage, this gel foundation is for you. I had to go outside to make sure that the foundation looked natural on my skin, which it did.
The formula lasted about 10 hours and gave me a dewy glow. If you have oily or combination skin, you might have to use primer and a mattifying powder to keep shine at bay. It’s worth noting that the Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation has anti-aging benefits.
A bottle of this foundation costs $48, but is worth it because it covered every single pore.
After the gel foundation, I applied the Remedy Concealer Pen under my eyes. The concealer works as well for me as the YSL Touche Eclait. It glides on easily and blends naturally, filling in the little lines I have under my eyes. I used the Perfection Powder Featherweight Foundation to set the liquid foundation. This might not be an acceptable practice but it really worked for me. The blush is incredibly pigmented and worked with my the oils in my skin to create a warm glow.
Because I was trying the Marc Jacobs Beauty line, I chose to use natural colors from the Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadows. I used the Lolita (forbidden neutrals) and the Vamp (seductive smokys). From the Lolita palette, I used the metallic warm pink with iridescent glitter and the matte dark coffee brown. I added a bit of dimension with the metallic jade green from the Vamp palette.
The Lovemarc Lipstick is incredibly hydrating. I tried the Lovemarc Lipstick in Roll The Dice (a raspberry color), which contains Myrrh Extract, Vitamin E Oils, and Monoi Butter. The Monoi butter reduces signs of aging as well. On darker skin tones, the pink color looks radiant and warms up the skin. I was able to go through my venti skinny latte without reapplying or feeling like my lips were dry.
