Alexander McQueen produced its latest fashion show at London Collections: Men amongst a cobblestone road, a hazy mist, and beneath a train track with the King’s cross in one of the London’s untouched locations. The setting was quite the opposite to the glamorous collections awaiting the audience. From what appears to be the setting of a horror movie Sarah Burton presented a collection with skull motif laced frock coats, three quarter length trousers, and a dark Victorian style.
The Alexander McQueen collection married traditional cuts with modern design and as always, exuded creativity for today’s London gent. It was a London meets a skateboarder type of Alexander McQueen collection. Soft layers of cream offered a daytime romance to the collection while black almost web-like patterns covered suits for a more midnight elegance. Looks held a relaxed, structure and the raw appearance of un-hemmed shirt sleeves and gave the dandy a variety of options this spring. Classic white and black tailored suits had sophisticated details within the collection. Made of floral jacquard or embroidery, each suit had an unmatched control that gives a man strength and style needed to dominate his sense of style.
Sarah Burton stated that the collection’s inspiration was a man’s rights of passage. The collection told a story that could be seen from a modern Shakespeare story.
