Look as Lavish As Elizabeth Taylor In a Cinch

November 14, 2012

Of all the old Hollywood starlets, the woman with the longest lasting effect on pop culture, fashion and beauty is Elizabeth Taylor, whose glamorous and tumultuous life is being brought to life in the new Lifetime original movie Liz & Dick starring Lindsay Lohan as the screen icon.  Though Lohan had the help of extremely talented makeup artists to transform her into Liz, getting the look is a cinch if you adhere to a few guidelines.

For starters, it’s all about attitude.  If you feel glamorous, you will become glamorous.  For Elizabeth Taylor, it was about bushy eyebrows, the thicker and blacker the better and rouged lips.  With so many choices on the market for red lips – my favorite being Tom Ford – you can get the look effortlessly no matter your budget.  Elizabeth’s sex appeal came from her eyes, which was often zhuzhed to the nines with mascara and kohl liner.

THE CLOTHES

Oh to be a fly on Elizabeth Taylor’s closet wall. Imagine all the fabulous gown and 50s style dresses in her closet.  For a look like Liz’s remember to lower the hemlines a bit on your dress, which means more 50s style tea length dresses.  She also loved accentuating her super tiny waist, a rule that we can all adhere by if we want to look a bit skinner.

THE JEWELRY

Did Liz love jewelry or did she love jewelry? The woman’s treasure trove of expensive jewels went up for auction after her death and countless celebs and socialites flocked to the room to snatch a piece of her legacy.  We can’t all be millionaires but thanks to fast fashion boutiques, we can get statement making jewels without breaking the bank.

Brand Statement: Lindsay Lohan stars as the legendary dame Elizabeth Taylor alongside Grant Bowler as celebrated actor Richard Burton in the Lifetime Original Movie Liz & Dick, making its world premiere Sunday, November 25, at 9pm ET on Lifetime. Based on the true story of the couple’s passionate and tumultuous love affair Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called “the marriage of the century” — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. http://www.mylifetime.com/movies/liz-and-dick
