Last night, Barneys New York unveiled its holiday windows, a collaboration between the department store and Disney Consumer Products. The moving art installation on Madison Avenue features ultra fashionably dressed Disney characters Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Daisy Duck, Snow White, Princess Tiana, and Cruella de Vil as runway models on the Paris catwalk.
Barneys tapped its favorite designers, including Nicholas Ghesquière for Balenciaga, Oliver Rousteing for Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Peter Copping for Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler and Rick Owens to design each character’s ensemble.
The five minute film produced by Disney, features some of fashion’s most beloved personalities making cameos backstage and in the front row of the Paris runway show. It starts with Minnie Mouse walking in front of a window display and day dreaming about walking the runways of Paris.
We then get to see backstage of the runway show, in which the Disney character will walking. Make-up artist Pat McGrath makes a cameo prepping one of the models, KCD founder Ed Filipowski calls the show and the front row is impressively packed with editors, critics and celebrities. Blogger Bryan Boy even makes it into the short animated film.
