NARS Andy Warhol Makeup Collection Pays Hommage to Pop Art

September 2, 2012

I’ve always said I would have given anything to be 21 in the 70s and 80 to party with Andy Warhol and his gang.  His pop art has inspired fashion for decades and now NARS is taking full advantage of his influence with a new makeup collection for the holiday season.

The NARS Andy Warhol collection is truly a work of art, with eye color palette, lip glosses, cheek colors and nail lacquers all packaged in prints and photographs from the Warhol archive.  The entire collection is inspired by some of the artist’s most memorable muses like Edie Sedgwick, Debbie Harry and transsxual film star Candy Darling.

There are two lines in the NARS Andy Warhol makeup collection, the Pop Art line, launching in October, and the Factory line, launching November. The Pop Art line, sold exclusively at Sephora, includes eye and cheek palettes and lip glosses in five limited edition shades.  The Factory collection will have Sedgwick inspired colors – Chelsea Girl matt lipstick and Edie eyeshadows and Darling’s Nat Finkelstein portrait gracing the limited edition makeup bag.

The collection is too beautiful to desecrate with a makeup brush but we’re itching to get our hands on both lines to play around with them.
