Torrid Giving Plus Size Women More of What They Want

August 14, 2012

On my last trip to Potomac Mills Outlet Mall in Virginia, I happened to stumble into Torrid, located right across from H&M, to see what they had to in store.  The store has a lot of character, offering on trend dresses, separates and intimates for sizes 12 and up. With more than 142 stores nationwide and its entire inventory online, Torrid is quickly becoming one of the go-to plus size women’s stores.

Torrid, owned by Hot Topic, is hoping to expand its reach nationwide by opening additional stores and tapping Ellen von Unwerth to shoot its first campaign in many years for fall fashion books.  Staring model Candice Huffine, the campaign has the tag line “I am Torrid” and depict the model topless and wearing Torrid’s new slim Stiletto jean. With the median American woman being a size 12, the brand’s mission to create of-the-moment pieces 20-something plus-size fashionistas would want to wear is welcomed news.

Torrid’s fall advertising campaign will debut in September in Cosmopolitan magazine as well as other women’s publications. For more information on Torrid, visit www.torrid.com.
